The Lifesigns Group Hostile Environments training team are all former members of H.M. Security Forces with specialist training in their chosen subjects.

Instructors are drawn from a variety of backgrounds including:

  • Metropolitan Police
  • Royal Army Medical Corps
  • Ambulance Services

 

All instructors hold adult teaching qualifications and are passionate in their approach to training.

Team Lifesigns

Alistair Cole

Chief Executive

Having served with the Parachute Regiment and RAMC, Alistair worked as an overseas project manager before returning to the UK and founding Lifesigns. Alistair has led over 38 overseas expeditions and is a qualified Trauma Medic. Alistair is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a guest lecturer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Ian Forbes

Company Manager

Ian served for over 25 years with the Royal Electrical and Medchanical Engineers, and has a solid background in working in remote environments. Ian is an experienced and highly effective team leader. Whilist with the military, Ian specialised in teaching UK Special Forces vehicle recovery. Ian is a qualified wilderness medical technician and has led over 50 overseas expeditions thoughout the world.

Tyrus McQueen

Specialist Trainer

Having left the military, Tyrus worked as  the country manager for security operations within the oil and gas industry in Iraq and Libya. Tyrus has also worked in Afghanistan on the US Military project to ensure secure supply chains from Pakistan to US Military locations. Recently Tyrus has returned from working with the BBC in Libya.

Kevin Hawkes

Training Coordinator

After a full military career, Kevin joined the Lifesigns Group as the training coordinator, he is a qualified mountain leader and climber as well as an experienced First Aid trainer. Kevin holds a combination of City & Guilds qualifications including the 7303 in Adult teaching.  Kevin is also an Emergency Medical Technician.

Belinda Kirk

Media Consultant

Belinda has many years of experience organising challenging expeditions and productions to all corners of the world and has worked as a producer for the BBC, UK independents and Iraqi TV.

John Byrne

Medical Trainer

Having served for over 30 years in the French Foreign Legion, Parachure Regiment and Royal Army Medical Corps, John left to become a medical trainer. He holds a variety of qualifications including CMT1 and Battlefield Advanced Resuscitation Techniques instructor.

Blue Cole

Security Consultant

Blue enjoyed a full service career in the British Army and Norwegian Special Forces which provided him with an immense background in Hostile Environment training and briefing. He is an expert in wilderness survival and regularly provides training to NGOs and government agencies. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Dr Jackie Gibb

Medical Advisor

Having qualified as a Doctor and completed a variety of hospital jobs, including a four year stint in Accident and Emergency, Jackie decided that she preferred working in the outdoors. She has travelled and worked in over 50 different countries worldwide and regularly leads groups on overseas expeditions. Jackie is a trainer in Pre-Hospital Life Support and is qualified in Advanced Life Support.

Dale Templar

Media Consultant

Dale worked for 22 years as a producer and director at BBC Television. She series-produced the multi-award winning landmark documentary series Human Planet and has worked in some of the most hostile environments on earth.

Diane Patrick

Trainer

Diane joined the Lifesigns Group in 2002, after a distinguished career in training with the Metropolitan Police. She is a qualified emergency Medical Technician and previously worked as a Project Manager in Central America. Diane has spent many years living and working in the Middle East and is fluent in Arabic.

Ash Ryan

Operations Coordinator

Ash joined Lifesigns in 2011; a qualified First Aider, her professional background is in organisation and logistics specialising in event management. Ash is responsible for the course logistics and liasion with clients.

Sherry Stone

Accounts Manager

Sherry has worked in the accounting field all of her professional working life and has gained vast experience in all aspects of the financial world. Updating her computing knowledge by doing an HND in Business Information Technology, which she passed with Distinctions. Sherry is responsible for the accounts team at the Lifesigns Group.
